How can I get my Nissan ready for spring?

Test your battery: Everyone knows that Ohio can have some pretty brutal winters, which means your battery especially is going to be taking a major hit. When the weather warms up, it’s a great time to have your battery tested for how the charge is holding. For any battery that is older than 5 years old, it might be suggested to get it replaced completely. Other than testing the battery, it’s important to check for corrosion, and clean off the wiring and connections if possible. This will help longevity.
Check the tires: This might either seem too obvious, or like something you can put off, but trust us, your tires are an important part of the overall functioning of your Nissan. Your tires are what is creating friction with the road beneath your vehicle, keeping you firmly on the road, especially during those rainstorms that happen every spring. By checking the treads and tire pressure, you are ensuring that safety is being addressed and that you will even not be spending too much money on filling up your Nissan.
Monitor fluids: From windshield wiper fluids to brake fluids, there are many different things that you should be looking at. Although with some of the systems, like transmission and power steering, any loss in fluid might be a sign that there is an underlying leak that needs to be looked at. Beyond that, we highly recommend topping off your coolant, especially as spring changes into summer. You don’t want your engine overheating just because of a lack of coolant!
Get new wiper blades: As we mentioned, winter can be particularly bad for car batteries. However, winter is also not so great on windshield wipers. If you notice that your wiper blades are cracked, or they’re streaking, now is a great time to get them replaced. Nothing is more important than making sure that you can see properly out of the front windshield.
