2022 Nissan Pathfinder vs Toyota Highlander
It’s an exciting time when you buy an SUV, but it can also get a little confusing due to all the different makes and models on the market today. We here at Fred Martin Nissan want to help, which is why we have taken two of the best on the market in the Nissan Pathfinder and the Toyota Highlander and compared their engine options and features. While we think that either one of these SUVs would make a terrific addition to your driveway, there is one that stands out. To find out which one our experts think you should be driving home, continue reading our comparison below!
2022 Nissan Pathfinder Power & Handling
The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder comes in four trim levels, and each one comes with the same powerful engine. Under the hood, you’ll find a terrific 3.5-liter V6 engine that pumps out a fantastic 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque. The engine pairs with a smooth nine-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive. If you want a little more traction, the 2022 Pathfinder has the option of all-wheel-drive. So no matter where you travel in this world, the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder will have you back and get you to where you want to go!
2021 Toyota Highlander Power & Handling
Like the Nissan Pathfinder, the Toyota Highlander also comes with one engine option. When you lift the hood of the Highlander, you’ll be greeted by a 3.5-liter V6 engine which pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel-drive is the default setup, but the Highlander does provide you with the option of all-wheel-drive if you choose, which is available on all trims. While we like a lot about what the Highlander offers in terms of power, we like the Pathfinders engine a little more.
2022 Nissan Pathfinder Features & Design
Throughout the four trim lineups of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder, you will find several impressive features, including tons of tech and luxury. Starting things off is the base S which comes with 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, keyless entry, push-button start, automatic climate control, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For safety, the Pathfinder has a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision mitigation, rear automatic braking, and lane departure warning. The SV builds on the S trim with a remote start, heated exterior mirrors, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. You also get more safety features with adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. The higher trims, the SL and the Platinum, add more enhanced features such as a power liftgate, leather upholstery, heated steering wheel, a nine-inch touchscreen, hands-free liftgate, head-up display digital instrument cluster, and ambient interior lighting. Two available Premium packages add even more goodies, such as a panoramic sunroof, second-row captain’s chairs, a tow-prep kit, and heated rear seats.
2021 Toyota Highlander Features & Design
The Toyota Highlander counters with six trim levels, and each comes with some interesting features. The base L trim starts with LED headlights, heated mirrors, keyless entry and ignition, a power driver’s seat, tri-zone automatic climate control, a six-speaker audio system, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Toyota Safety System adds some advanced safety features. Moving up to the LE adds to this with foglights, a height-adjustable power liftgate, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a blind-spot monitor. Want more luxury items? Then there is the XLE which adds roof rails, a sunroof, a wireless charging pad, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated front seats, and second-row captain’s chairs. New to the Highlander lineup is the XSE, which brings several more advanced features such as sporty styling cues, sport-tuned suspension, interior ambient lighting, and a navigation system. The top two trims are the Limited and the Platinum, which round things out nicely with front and rear parking sensors, a hands-free liftgate, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, adaptive headlamps, automatic wipers, and a panoramic sunroof.
